Things I accomplished this summer:

  • Gave me and my girls a summer to remember
  • Potty trained Isabelle
  • Taught the girls some songs and letters of the alphabet (H can now spell half her name)
  • Read many many books to the kiddos
  • Spent quality time with them and had allot of fun; pools, lakes, parks, trip to Grandma's, DC and Luray Caverns
  • Watched a sunset or two
  • Stopped and smelled the roses
  • Read two books, read a couple of Zulen's books on colors, art
  • Finished painting the kitchen, hallways
  • Rearranged the den, cleaned out girls rooms/garage..did allot of cleaning!
  • Sent Mom a letter
  • Watched a little girl for a month
  • Rode the Superman ride at Six Flags!!

Things I learned this summer:

  • Being a stay home mom is not easy
  • Being a stay home mom is not for me
  • I'm very vulnerable to depression
  • That everything in life is a trade off
  • Not to let small things bother me
  • Not to put so much weight on my shoulders
  • That things don't have to be perfect all the time
  • How strong a mother's bond can really be
  • To lean on family and friends more rather than try and be a hero all the time
  • To appreciate what you have
  • To savor each day, each moment because life is so short
  • To be happy with the person that I am, who I've become
  • How much your kids really do look up to you, how much they need you and how much you influence them
  • Idle mind is dangerous

And there's more, so much more that I can't really think of right off the top of my head. But all in all it's been great. I go back to work this Wed. Kayla starts 2nd grade tomm, the girls start preschool and daycare also on Wed. I'm sad in a way and happy at the same time. I'm reflecting back on this summer as one I'll hold on to forever. The smile on my babies faces, the warm embraces, hot summer days at the pool watching them splash around and laugh..even the crying and the pottie accidents, the fighting over shoes or barbie dolls, ice cream runs, walks to the park..all of it. I know no matter what I serve a purpose in life. That is to be a good mother, a good wife, sister, daughter.....it's what makes me happy in the end.

In the end that's what matters that we make difference in our children's lives, and we take some unforgettable memories alongside this journey.

Chris and I were talking about how big they are (both) getting, I just started bawling!!! I love my freedom, and independence, but I love nothing more then my boys, nothing in this world compares to that...even the way I am about myself!

Everything I do, is for them not even me. When we are rushing in the morning, and I am missing out on the most important days of their lives it saddens me....one day all of this will truly come to an end...what the hell am I to do?? hahaaha, I want a baby!!!!! Just onnnnnneeee more!

I am so happy that all of you had this opportunity to share some time together, after all it's hard when we can't do it financially, so the help is very much appreciated!! But, Chris feels like D, that he would rather have the kids with me then anyone else....

We are lucky to have good guys in our lives. We are lucky to have such a beautiful family, we are lucky they are healthy! So many good things are happening for all of us, and WE DESERVE IT!

Good luck on your first day! I know you will be missing your babies, but they will tell you everything they learned and you'll know that you made a good decision. As far as work goes, hey if this one doesn't work there are always others!! :)

So sweet. Wow--you potty-trained Isabelle. How old is she now? Time really is flying by!! Congrats on getting a new job when you wanted/needed it. :)
